Recently it was determined that the center's 25-year old refrigerator was no longer consistently keeping food cold enough, and the decision was made to replace it instead of attempting yet another repair. This expense was unexpected and would place a burden on a budget already stretched thin—but necessity prevailed, and Ambrose Community Center ordered a new refrigerator.
As the primary user of the unit, Meals on Wheels Diablo Region saw the chance to help the District that had opened its doors to so many seniors over the years. The offer was made to share in the cost of the refrigerator.
Doug Long, General Manager of the Ambrose Recreation and Park District expressed his gratitude in a note to Meals on Wheels saying, “For years the District and Meals on Wheels Diablo Region have partnered to serve Bay Point seniors, and we look forward to our continued relationship."
